As someone who has spent years, and continues to work to improve health outcomes and supportive environments, I know this:
Connection is a form of healthcare. Community is a protective factor. And giving your time is one of the strongest wellness interventions we have for overall wellness and emotional wellbeing. When we shift our focus from ourselves to others, our brains release dopamine and oxytocin—two ‘feel-good’ chemicals proven to increase happiness and reduce stress. Acts of kindness activate the reward centers of the brain, creating an immediate boost in mood, connection, and overall wellbeing (nurse Benson surfaced—but it's true! :))
This year, the Hive Market and the City of Cheviot are proud to introduce a brand-new holiday tradition:
🎅 Cheviot’s Santa Village + Holiday Market
📅 Saturday, December 6th | Noon–5 PM
📍 Holiday family fun | Local shopping | Community giving | Santa experience
To make this magical day possible, we’re looking for:
✔️ Santa’s Helpers (greeting families + kid activities)
✔️ 1–2 Volunteer Photographers
✔️ Set-Up Crew (morning)
✔️ Clean-Up Crew (late afternoon)
But if you don’t have time to volunteer—your presence still matters.
Simply attending, shopping, and bringing your family adds energy, joy, and support to a growing tradition.
And every bit of participation helps fund real community impact:
